On the Uchuck III to Zebelous September 26, 2024

Welcome aboard the Uchuck III.  I was on this same ship when I was 6-8 months old! More history of the Uchuck in a separate blog.

X marks the spot where I stood for most of the way out. There was a storm with high winds and rain. I stood bravely against the storm in my orange poncho. It was a surreal experience.

This is how cargo was unloaded and loaded. It was a blast watching the Coke fridge being unloaded. Not  any more out side pictures as it was raining too hard.

I visited the bridge. That's Captain Spencer with the binoculars. The wheel was exquisite.

I've seen this in many a movie but never understood how it works. I imagined it was like an accelerator and gear shift. However, it's really a communication device to let the engineer in the engine room know what the captain wants. It's the engineer who controls the throttle.

Engine room.

Finally after several stops to unload cargo we arrived at our destination in Zebellos. Several  people arrived to  at the dock to drive us to Cedar Inn. This was actually plan C as we had to change itinerary because of the storm.
We woke up from a nap to find the power had gone out. It didn't come back on until the day after we left.

Dinner was by candlelight. Food was prepared on the Uchuck III and brought up to the Inn by the folks who drove us. This picture was taken before the sun went down.
We had a delicious meal of cesar salad, lasagna and garlic bread. Desert was a blue berry short cake.
