Devil's backbone near PF st.pk. TX Feb 08, 24

Today a drive across the Devil's Backbone was to be our great adventure.
First we stopped in Johnson City having glimsed a building with impressive architecture.

This is the Blaco County Seat building housing the Sheriff's office.
The original seat had been in Blanco City. The seat is to be in the geographical centre of the county. Apparently some county lines were redrawn and Blaco was no longer at the centre. Johnson City became the centre and therefore got to be the seat. Thus a new building.
I understand that the seat is kinda like the capital of the county.
And FYI and mine the policing  goes like this. The police are for the City. The sheriff is for the county . And the state troopers for the state.
So the  next step is to program Google to take us to the Devil's Backbone.  Up it pops and away we go. Google took us to this picnic site.
With a view of the Devil's Backbone. It's here we understood that the Devil's Backbone is a series of ridges that look like a back bone. Not was we expected but made a wonderful drive!
