Laredo close to L 🏠⚪️ TX Jan 10, 24

Another drive into Laredo. There were 5 items on our shopping list. We stopped at H-E-B grocery store and ended up with a whole lot more.
Some history.
It was founded in 1905 by Florence Butte in her home. Her youngest son Howard Edward Butte took over. Hence the name. His youngest son, Charles,  took over in 1971. By 2006 he grew it from a $250,000 to a  $13 billion per year business. It is still family owned with stores only  in Texas and Mexico. This explains the large selection of Mexican merchandise.
Papaya the size of watermelons
Bunuleos

Pumpkin empanadas
Pineapple 🍍 pie

Pineapples are grown in Mexico where 70% is eaten as fresh fruit. It is the seventh largest producers of pineapples. Explains why there were lots of pineapple products in the store.

Special meat (beef) for tacos
I bought the Texas sized package.

Green relish
Not sweet but dill!!!

And of course hot sauce.
Mexican hot 🔥 sauce.

It's official H-E-B is our new favourite grocery store.

Then home, enjoying the sun, left over gumbo for supper, a movie 🎬  A Beautiful Mind, and then 😴.
