       Kyle, Texas it's a thing!!!!
                My own city!
A picture is worth a thousand words. So here are several thousands of words.

And now a modicum of history:

We visited Claiborne Kyle's longhouse. We knew it existed but there were no Google directions.  So we headed in the direction of another landmark. The only thing marking the spot was this sign post.

A bit about Claribourne. He was born in 1800 and married Lucy Bugg. They had 9 children.  Claiborne was a politician in Mississippi.  The family moved to Texas because of some financial issues. They are buried in the Kyle family cemetery.
I was not able to find Claiborne or Lucy's gaves.  But did find Vinie in the slave's gaveyard. She was married to Samual a slave who was believed to be Claiborne's son with Kitty Kyle.
Also found Curran Kyle's gravestone. Who I believe is also Claiborne's son with his wife Lucy.

Curran was a younger brother of  Fergus who was  born in 1834. They grew up in the log house. Fergus married Anna Moore and had 9 children. He fought for the Confederates and went on to have a political career.

In 1880 the railway created a route connecting San Antonio and Austin. A depot was needed somewhere in between.  Fergus donated the land for the depot and town. As such the town of Kyle was born.
It's possible that I'm related to the founders of Kyle,Texas.

We stopped at the Chamber of Commerce and got ourself a whole bag of stuff.
I really need to work on taking selfies.
