Marfa TX. Dec 06, 23

We headed into Marfa around noon which was a good choice. Artists 👩‍🎨👨‍🎨 don't do mornings.

This is a Hotel Paisono built in 1930, has a complex history, and in 1955 was the home for the cast and crew of Giants. Cast included Rock Hudson, James Dean and Elizabeth Taylor.

FYI: Several other movies have been made here or near here. I won't bore you with a list.

Art and the art community in Marfa was spearheaded by New York artist Donald Judd. He has foundations in both Marfa and New York. Unfortunatly the foundation here in Marfa was not open.

The Chinati foundation was founded by  Judd for permanent installation of large works of art.. It was open but I couldn't take pictures. The art work of John Chamberland was on display, sculpture inspired by car crashes.

The Ballroom is another large building for art work.
Some paintings

This one reminds me of Michaelangelo's Creation of Adam.
And pottery
Hmmmmmmmm 🤔

More architecture. This is the Courthouse built in 1886.

Visitors are welcome unless you run then you will be asked to leave.
Three stories then two levels in the dome. The top level in the dome has windows all around.
Loved the woodwork.

We went for a browse in the wrong store!

After a long day walking we head back to our campsite. As it started to turn dark our I installion art work came alive.

Marfa is also known for sighting of strange source less lights.  They can be white, blue or red. They dance on the horizon and are described as whimsical and friendly. Sorry folks I didn't spot any.😿
