Today we took a drive down the little roads through all the little towns. It's very agricultural with sugar cane the crop of  choice.

Sugar cane does not require seeding every year. Each planting can be good for 3-5 years. Seeding to maturity can take up to 24 months but in Louisiana it can be as little as 6 months.
