Chauvin. February 08

Went a little further abroad today. Drove in to Houma. Apparently the second biggest Mardi Gras in Louisiana!
We visited the Visitor Center where they have a giant pair of gum boots. For no discernable reason it seems.
I by my very nature needed to try one on.
Got some good information and a goodie bag. Best of all more Mardi Gras beads.
The bayou areas are getting bigger and therefore the land is disappearing. At the most remote areas the Louisiana government is trying to buy properties from those folks still living there. Unfortunately with the loss of land and the eventual need to relocate there is also a loss of culture. This area has been the home of the Houma First Nations for millennia.
The other reason for the trip to Houma was to get Suki all cleaned up!

Isn't she just the cutest. Got to love the little neckerchief!
Got lots of other great stuff planned but you will just have to wait till it happens.
                        🥳🎉🥳
