New Orleans or Bust Jan 2-6.

Today is 6th day of the 2023rd year. After two weeks in Magnolia beach it's time to.move on. We are actually heading away from New Orleans . Our destination is I.B.Magee Beach Park close to Corpus Christie. Lots of touristy stuff there so I'm sure I'll be writing more often.

But now it's a different day and I have tales from the last few days. Oh where to start, where to start?

Lets start with wild life stories. Mostly birds, it might just be the best birding place in the universe. As for mammals lots of dogs, not many cats and 2 deer. To my great disappointment I did not see a single alligator despite tales of their existence and warning signs.

Birds were abundant and I even learned the name of a few.

You and I may call them vultures but I was kindly corrected " We all call'um buzzards round here ."

A bit on the lazy side and not afraid so I got a close up.

We woke to their choir each and every morning.

You can not know how disappointed I was with 17 shots of this. It is not a White Egret.

Next :The wild real estate debacle of 2023! 

Dave spent time checking out what was avaiable in the area for under 100k Canadian. First on our list was 2 serviced lots in a subdivision close to us.

It turns out to be a gated community. We refused, at least I refused to be beaten by a mere gate. Low and behold someone with the magic code entered. Encouraged my me Dave followed them in. We found the lots and they we as advertised. We then headed back out. As we drove up to the gate we expected it to open. I mean really the purpose was to keep people out and not capture them as prisoners. As it turns out we had been captured. Sitting some what dumbfounded we sat for some time ideas rolling around in our heads. I was first to action, climbing through the gate and playing at code breaking. Seems I have a super power. Within half a dozen tries I had broken the code and we broke free.

Next: We are thirsty!

So back at the ranch on our last night we thought we would try the local watering hole.

Once inside we found the watering hole was long time gone! However, not to be beaten we bought a bottle of wine. Day drinking seemed a pleasant ending to this story.

As stated at the beginning of this blog we were heading to I.B Magee Beach and we made it and it is perfect!!
