Don't you just love our swing!! We are the only ones in the camp ground with one. Weather cloudy so we took a down time day. Except for laundry - four loads.

This find was pure change. Set out today to do some exploring. The destination planned was Bay City. Once again relying on Google we asked for directions avoiding motorways. This route was going to require a ferry crossing. On arrival it was closed Having spotted the sign San Jacinto off we went to explore. Turns out this spot was the site of the battle that Texas, a country at the time, had with Mexico for independence. Texas was its own country for about nine years before joining the USA.

This is the day we went to Galveston. Historical downtown (The Strand) has amazing architecture from around the 1850's. Dave found a small Mexican restaurant tucked back from the street. Suki with with us so we ate out on the deck. After we went on a walking tour of the historical residential district. The houses were gorgeous. As my back was acting up I didn't take pictures. So you will have to Google it or go there yourself. Returning to the campground we drove through Texas City. Didn't see any housing but literally 1000's of acres of gas and oil industry including a Good Year plant.

This is the delightful restaurant we went to for lunch. It was recommended by two people at our campground. The food was excellent. We shared a seafood platter - fried shrimp, oysters, fish and a crawdad. Even the coleslaw had shrimps in it. Also camp with hush puppies not the shoes.

This one speaks for itself.
This is the actual space control center that was used for the first manned flight to the moon. It is 95% original materials.
Rockets one I believe is a Satern.
This is an actual Boeing 747 used to move the space shuttle and an actual space shuttle. We were able to enter both. Spectacular! We were both in awe of it.
This of course is the Canadian Arm inside the Space Shuttle. 🇨🇦

Some minor flooding. It appeared we were being engulfed by the bayou. I was watching for aligators
