New Orleans or Bust: Day8 part 2
December 16
As we left our host place north of Bakersfield. On the drive into Bakersfield there was a unique useof the land. First off its flat, Saskatchewan flat! There is a mixture of housing subdivisions, orchards and industrial.
The housing was for the most part enormous homes like 3 to 5 thousand sqft. And every thing walled.. The orchards mostly citrus spreading out for miles. Then industrial parks with manufacturing plants, warehousing and silos and tanks. All mixed up together.
We've been going south but are heading east now to avoid Los Angelas. Then suddenly with out notice we are heading into hills, like big hills. And dry, desert dry.
And back out into the flat, dry, not a drop of water anywhere desert. Suddenly I see a herd of airplanes, big planes parked in the middle of this vast desert. So cool! Turns out it part of Edwards Air Force Base.
I have found the desert landscapes to be totally mesmerizing. I feel mesmerized by what I'm seeing. I may have been a desert dweller in a past life.
Tonight our host is a brewery.
We were treated very well. Even a spot at the table for Suki. They brought her water and treats.
And treats for us.
And super from the food truck. I was thinking it was a bit expensive until I saw the portion size.
Our camping spot was a little unusual as well. Behind the brewery.
And now we are off to our next adventure. 🍷🍷
Are you sure you parked and ate at a brewery!? Or was it a mirage!?
