Brazo Bend. February 19-23
I'm going to start this post by saying Dave and I have both had colds. I have been struggling to get over it. Between temperatures in the mid to high 20's with 100% humidity, asthma triggering a lot of coughing, a medication miscalculation, the internet having been intermittent and the theft of our lap top I have not kept up with blogging.
February 19 was a travel day which started off quite grand. We had planned a unique little trip with a ferry ride on to one end of Galveston Island and a $2 toll bridge off the other end. Unfortunately mid island Google had some kind of melt down and changed the route. Before I caught on we were on the causeway off the island. Which meant we traveled on semi major highways with extensive road work. Needless to say Little Miss Google Maps and I have not been on speaking terms.
Brazo Bend Texas state park is quite remarkable. The geography is quite unique with at least two oxbow lakes, swamp, rivers and some grass lands. It is completely not hunted and home to approximately 300 aligators.
I wasn't much up to leaving the campsite but did manage a walk around 40-acre lake. Yes we saw alligators.
A mother
And babies - can you see them
How about now.
We also stopped into the...
Other than that a trip into Needville for some groceries.
Today is February 23 our last night here. We have a campfire planned. Mom would be so proud. Dave and I have been gathering unused firewood from vacated campsites.
Tomorrow is another moving day and will be arriving back in Port Aransas.
